The economy of Azerbaijan and healthcare sector

Over 400 healthcare facilities have been built or refurbished in Azerbaijan in the past five years. Work on equipping them to international standards continues to take place regularly.
About AZN 200 million (US $255 million) was spent on the implementation of nine state healthcare programmes during the same period.
Budgetary expenditure in the healthcare sector amounted to AZN 483,425,000 (US $612 million) in 2010.
This sum is due to increased to AZN 600 million (US $760 million) by 2013.
"Today, Azerbaijan’s healthcare sector is on the rise. The number of new medical institutions is increasing, and it is necessary to provide them with modern equipment, and this exhibition can and does help with this, by bringing new medical products and technologies to the Azerbaijani market. This significant event took place during the session in Baku of the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe, which, of course, gives impetus to the development of medicine not only in Azerbaijan, but also in all the member countries of the organisation."
