• Product Detials:Aflatoxins are a group of mycotoxins produced by members of the Aspergillus species like A. Flavus or A. Parasiticus. There are six major types of aflatoxins; Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, and G2 are produced by fungi, and aflatoxins M1 and M2 are in vivo metabolites of aflatoxin B1 and B2. Aflatoxins can be found on a wide range of commodities including cereals, nuts, species, figs and dried fruit. Aflatoxin M1, the metabolites of Aflatoxin B1 is found in mild and dairy products. Aflatoxins cause health and performance problem in livestock when contaminated feed is consumed.
  All six aflatoxins have been assigned carcinogenic status by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because epidemiological studies have identified a positive correlation between average dietary aflatoxin intake incidences of liver cancer. Aflatoxins are considered to be among the strongest, naturally occurring carcinogens in the world.
  The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has set a limit of 20 ppb of Aflatoxins in all food commodities for human and livestock. The maximum allowable limit for aflatoxin M1 in mild is 0.5 ppb (0.1 ng/ml).
  One Step Aflatoxin Test is a colloidal gold/antibody complex based immunoassay designed for the qualitative determination of aflatoxin in unknown samples. It is intended for determination if the unknown sample contains more or less than 20 ppb Aflatoxin.
